Dusts can be non hazardous at only minor nuisance levels, or small amounts of highly toxic substances or anywhere in between. Dusts that can be seen are sometimes accompanied by dusts that cannot be seen. It’s a mistake to estimate levels based on what you can see. The respiratory tract is great at removing large dusts and certain very small dusts are easily breathed in and back out. But respirable sized dust gets trapped in the lower lung causing potential serious health issues.
We are skilled at evaluating your work processes to determine characteristics of raw, intermediate or end resulting products. We can anticipate, identify, evaluate and control exposure to dusts that create a hazard to employees directly thru inhalation, or thru collecting on surfaces of skin, or due to their hazardous and combustible properties creating unsafe environments.
